Star Valley Wyoming

 Afton, Wyoming , in the 1930's.  The street would be US 89.

 Above is a 1942 view of US 89 through Afton, Wyoming.

This is Afton in the 50's.  Construction of the arch, with donated antlers, started in June 1958. The arch was completed in July 1959. The arch, weighing about 15 tons, contains some 3,011 antlers, is 75 feet wide and 18 feet above the street.

This is the "route" that became US 89 many in 1932.

Throughout the early years of US 89, the Afton Tabernacle was the most prominent man-made landmark in Star Valley. This structure was completed in 1909. 

The tower has suffered from the severe winters and in 1943 was rebuilt at the same original height, with additional classrooms. 

The building was remodeled in 1971 and 1984.
